We’re a small independent game studio in Norway, run by two brothers. We want to recreate and share fun game experiences: the kind that pulled us in when we were growing up, the kind we still go back to.
We’re excited to be working on our debut title, Kolver: a first-person survival game inspired by the look of the original PlayStation and late-90s/early-2000s computer games, set in a small Norwegian fjord town emptied overnight. It’s early days, and the game is open for playtesting while we build it, so you can follow along and help shape it.
Stone by stone
Varden is Norwegian for “the cairn”. On the mountains it marks the way where there is no path. It’s built from the stones lying around it, and by tradition everyone who passes adds one more.
That’s how we think about making games. We build with what’s around us: our hometown, the fjords and the mountains we grew up with, and the games that shaped us. And we don’t build alone. Every playtest, every piece of feedback and every bug report is a stone added to the cairn.
In our logo we write it VARÐEN, with the old letter ð from Old Norse varða: the d in today’s Norwegian varde is where the ð used to be.
Say hello
Questions, feedback on Kolver or a bug you found: write to us. We read everything.
